“TL;DR: Jason is dishonest, sloppy, and only makes things "right" when cornered with proof. I did business with Jason for years. Early red flags: a simple SNES battery replacement took three months, followed by a “sorry” gift card to a store that closed two weeks later—which he refused to honor elsewhere. The breaking point was a Game Boy Pocket mod. We explicitly agreed on a backlit original screen and enhanced volume. What I got was a smaller aftermarket screen, no volume improvement, and my original working screen quietly kept by him. When I questioned it, Jason insisted (1) backlighting a GBP is impossible (false), and (2) the volume sounded the same because of my hearing. Another shop opened it up: the work was sloppy, the original speaker was still inside, and nothing had been cleaned. In other words—the work wasn’t done. Only after I presented photos and evidence did Jason apologize and refund me. Accountability didn’t come from ethics; it came from being caught. Prices are bad, trade-in offers are worse, and repairs are a gamble. If you value your hardware—or honesty—go elsewhere. eBay is cheaper, and there are better ways to get screwed by far nicer (and not just nice for show) people. In short, the problem was not my hearing, but Jason. I have seen Jason complain about theft from his store, yet he gladly steals from his customers. I feel bad for the customers Jason is likely still abusing. He showed absolutely no signs of accountability until there was irrefutable evidence of his gross mishandling of my GBP and his sustained dishonesty. Here's hoping the community gets the retro game store it deserves, with someone who genuinely cares about its customers! Hear, hear! 👂”
