★★★★★
“My husband and I visited here from out of town. We were very impressed with the inventory, and the well organized system they have in place. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Very clean and good environment. They had large space with lots of tables for playing. They also sell online and ship which was great news for a couple of out of towners. Excellent customer service, we will make it a point to visit again when back in town.”

“My wife’s birthday is coming up, and she loves opening a bunch of Pokémon packs all at once. I’m not very familiar with Pokémon, but after checking two Walmarts, Target, Best Buy, and GameStop, I only managed to find four packs. I decided to try this shop—and I’m glad I did. Sam greeted me right away, even while helping another customer. He was super helpful, answered all my questions, and guided me toward the best options for my budget. Prices were fair—definitely not big-box retail, but that’s expected with a small business, especially with older packs. I ended up getting around 25 packs, and I know my wife is going to be excited to open them all. I will return the next go around instead of wasting 2 hours trying to find a few packs at retailers”

“My family and I frequent Picante’s every now and then. We live about 30 mins away, but we go due to the awesome staff. Highly recommend. Not sure what these one star reviews are regarding. They’ve been nothing but wonderful to us.”

“I’ve traveled up from Charlotte quite a few times to Picante as of late and I really like this store! The space is nice and the selection is very top notch. The availability of singles with their inventory system is really nice when you’re traveling up a decent distance to see what they do and don’t have. And I think their trade policy is really solid as well, scaled pricing for higher end cards in percentages makes for a pleasant experience when you’re trying to even out on singles. Customer service has also been really great each time I’ve been there, I read a few of the reviews that mentioned not being greeted and I think that must have made impact because I’ve never been ignored being in the building. Great stuff all around. The only reason I don’t go five stars is for the listed conditioning of singles. I do think this subject is touchy and difficult to navigate when you’re shopping anywhere, online or in a store, and it all becomes extremely subjective. One persons light play can be someone else’s moderate played, and usually I think anyone trying to buy singles looking for consistent immaculate grade worthy cards is kidding themselves. With that being said, the few times I have looked at cards that are displayed as Near mint, the conditioning of corners and edge whitening has left me wondering if this is just to list at the higher available price. I don’t blame a shop with overhead for doing this at all, I just think it’s worth mentioning for when you’re shopping for cards to always compare conditioning and prices with available sources and to never be afraid to ask about a card price nowadays. And for what it’s worth, they’ve worked with me on this too before! But also declined when the card value is higher, which I totally respect. Overall, I still will make the drive up here when I’m looking for things I can’t find locally because the experience is still great!”
