“This is a very nice little game shop. I was introduced by attending a birthday party. The kids had The Dungeon room, where they played a one-shot D&D game, and the adults had The Tavern room, where we had the refreshments and socializing. They have an extensive lending library of games, and they even have a list of titles with pertinent info to make it easier to find a game to try. Staff was friendly and helpful, ready to answer questions. They host open games; we were there during Magic the Gathering. Alongside new games, they have a donation section where you can find games and books, and a display of locally made small business products. I found a magnet there I couldn’t live without! I am definitely planning on going again, especially when I actually have a bit of spending money. I saw a few dice sets that make a goblin like myself drool a bit!”

“This shop is amazing, the staff are all incredibly friendly and knowledgeable of all the nerdy stuff I need to get and their events are always so welcoming. I usually pop in to either play magic or warhammer, I love my dollies, and the community they have cultivated here is what brings me back each and every time because they place such an emphasis on making sure that everyone has a good time and welcoming anyone who walks through the door. Anyways I need to head in now to buy an unreasonable amount of magic packs and hang out while asking the staff for suggestions on how to build my next deck.”

“I went into the store just looking to buy some pokemon singles and ended up staying for hours just chatting with the staff. The entire environment is extremely welcoming and as a woman in the tcg community I’ve never felt a store was as welcoming as this one was to me. I will definitely be coming back!”

“I originally left Hobby Quest a 5-star review about three months ago. I am now changing that review because of how I was treated after becoming more involved in their paid D&D sessions. I have spent hundreds of dollars at this business on dice, dice trays, drinks, D&D sessions, paints, and paintable miniatures. I wanted to support a local hobby store and be part of the gaming community here. Unfortunately, after participating in groups run by employees who acted as DMs for $7 per session, my experience changed completely. I was mistreated by two employees and was refused participation in a D&D session. That experience left me feeling discriminated against and unwelcome in a place that should be inclusive, respectful, and community-centered. No customer should invest time, money, and trust into a business only to be treated this way. Hobby stores depend on community, and this experience made it clear to me that this is not a community I can safely or comfortably support. I will not be spending any more money at Hobby Quest. There are many other hobby and game stores in the Sacramento metropolitan area, and I will be taking my business elsewhere.”
