“When I was new to comics, finding a good, local store where I could pick up issues and chat was very important to me. I had so many questions, but felt intimidated by how little I knew. From the first time I stepped through the door at Fanboy almost two years ago until now, each employee I’ve interacted with has been helpful and professional. The store has a good stock, both with new items and a wide variety of back issues. Subscribing to comics with them is easy and comes with a 10% discount. If you order a variant cover, they do absolutely everything they can to make sure you get that particular cover. And their two annual sales? Listen, there’s a reason people line up hours before the doors open—the deals are crazy good. Of course, they carry more than just comics. The wall of Funkos genuinely took my breath away the first time I saw it, and they have refurbished gaming systems, along with other items. Really, though, one of my favorite parts of my week is stoping by Fanboy and picking up my weekly pulls. The owners, Mike and Monique, have created a really special place and I’m so grateful Macon has Fanboy (but y’all didn’t hear that from me 🤫) The TL;DR? Go visit! Do it! You won’t regret it.”

“I’ve spent a lot of money at this shop over the years. I don’t bother the owners or employees. I’m quiet. I don’t touch the merchandise unless I buy it. I don’t try to negotiate prices on vintage comics and Pokemon cards. I don’t open the bagged 50 year old comics that I want to buy out of fear of angering the employees. Yet I still feel uncomfortable in the shop and seem to annoy the staff. Unfortunately I don’t have any other options to enjoy the hobby. I wish I knew why my presence at this location feels like a problem, or my rare question or request for assistance is such a burden. When I buy expensive comics and I take them home and open the bags and all the pages fall out or crumble to pieces, I may ask if I can see the book prior to purchasing it.”
