“The 3.1 star review, tons of comments saying the same thing and the owner arguing against every review clearly shows who the problem is. Owner commonly references beckett price guide which has been outdated for over 10 years, he knows this, and it’s exactly why he uses it. The store has low end modern singles, $5-50 (which the owner says he gets for free and resells), yet will constantly brag about how many thousands of dollars he gets for specific cards from his “weekly” and “routine” NY buyers. Before you buy from here, check prices elsewhere, I will guarantee he’s higher that other local stores and online stores by a 20%+ margin.”

“Pokémon parents beware! This is not because their prices are high it’s because they lie about the market value of the cards. They have cards without prices on them and you have to ask what the cost is. This is standard practice for a market that changes daily but….Employees make up market value prices when they “look them up”. (So obviously this is what they are taught to do) If you ask them to show you the site or screen of the computer they look up the market value price from they fold like a cheap suit. This is because they lie and mark it up way past market value. I understand needing to have higher prices to pay for rent and other operating costs but don’t lie to me about market value!!! Very awkward exchange when you say “okay can you show me where you are getting this price from” and they just won’t show you cause it’s made up. It Was not very fun explaining to my 8 year old why they would not show me where they get their price from… good life lesson though. I asked to see where they got market value from at least 5 times cause I was on TCG. Looking it up myself and they were lying about market value. Finally got them down to a price that was fair but I should not have to treat a card shop like it’s the Berlin mart… I’m sure the owner will respond to this saying they always “follow market with prices with a fair mark up for a brick and mortar store” or “ we have x amount of years selling cards” blah blah and I can tell you an orange is actually red, but that doesn’t make it true. Compare how specific bad reviews are to how generic good reviews are and you will find which are true. 3,.1 is a terrible grade for a hobby shop but it’s well deserved. Anyway long story short after pressing multiple times to just show me where they are getting the price from they never did but came down to a fair price based on market value I looked up myself. You can definitely shop here but be educated before purchasing. Friendly people are not always kind. Don’t believe the lies this owner reply to this with to save face.”
