“Awesome place to buy new packs for Pokémon, Yu-Gi-Oh and Magic the gathering and more. First place I found where they buy individual Yu-Gi-Oh cards, fair offers and the people were super chill and for a walk in it was pretty fast. Only thing that sucks, it's pretty far but it's worth the trip. Ohhh from what I saw, it's a popular place for MTG and Pokemon players. I would highly recommend. Ps I took multiple buses from Burlington, it was worth it”

“This place is great. They have a plethora of inventory for whatever card/tabletop games your feeling like getting into. I came in to snag some yugioh cards. They took a little longer than expected, but honestly I didnt mind. Sometimes it is what it is, and doesn't help that yugioh is categorized in a weird way so I dont blame them. Super cool guys, it was my 4th or 5th visit. Either way im still coming back again soon”

“Called the store on the day of a pre-release trading card game launch to inquire if they were selling product. The employees had no idea what I was talking about and asked me where I had heard that there was a launch that day. I responded that other local game stores were selling the product and that the publisher had noted that that was the release day for local game stores. After confirming that this set had in fact been released, they then told me that they would not be selling product until two days later at their launch event. On the day of the launch event, I arrived to find out that the employees did not even know if there was a launch event happening or know where the product was at all, or if they could even sell it. After determining that there would be an event that day they still were not sure if they would be able to sell it to us or with the price would be and chose a price that was higher than other product from the same trading card game. This was all after calling ahead to confirm these things and then traveling over an hour and a half to the store since there are not many local game stores where I live. Overall, when asking questions it felt like I was bothering the employees and that it was my fault that they didn't know the answers to my questions and it was an inconvenience that we had even asked. This is in sharp contrast to other local game stores in the area who will always look to find the answer to a question if they don't know the answer. Past experiences at Geek Fortress have been a little unorganized, but nothing like the most recent one. I will not be coming back.”

“TL:DR - Find a different card store, this one will happily charge you over market price and lie to your face. Consider supporting one of the many other local card shops such as Stupid Geeks or Zulus. ________ To give some context, I've been a customer at Geek Fortress for several years now. This was my go-to spot for buying high end cards and vintage singles. In the past I've bought cards like bubble mew, the full pristmatic SIR set, several vintage charizards, etc. Just this week I spent over $1k on vintage singles there. Today, I went in to pick up a few cards - one of which was listed on their website for $34.25. When I got there and went to buy it, they immediately said they needed to up the price. TCG player lists the card average at $39.73 - with one being sold 13 days ago for $35.00. On Ebay - there have been several sold in the past week for a similar price with one selling today for $35 on there (see attached). They say they have to up the price as the 3 available on TCG player currently are around $70+ with one selling for that price the other day. Keep in mind, this is a vintage card that has only sold 18 copies in the past 3 months on TCG player - of course there are going to be random listings way above the market price and the occasional desperate person willing to pay any price. Extra crazy considering they've used this same logic against me in the past when I mentioned their cards are higher than the listings on TCG, but they insisted they have to go with the average price listed on there. Now imagine you tried to sell them a card - which price you think they'd go with? Ultimately, he tells me the best he can do is $50. I told him that'll be a hard pass and I'll order it from ebay (bought one for $37.99 right after posting this). In the past, I've been willing to pay above market price at this store because I wanted to support them and liked the employees. When I mentioned how I've happily paid over market to them on numerous occasions for that reason, I got a BS spiel of how they would have price matched TCG if I asked. When I mentioned their price matching is always TCG + 10% - he said that was an old policy and they no longer do it and straight match TCG now. The crazy part is I literally had them price match a card a few days ago and they still did 10% over TCG on it. Homie clearly lied to my face. Which brings me to my final point - their card inventory system. Their pricing is all over the place. Most cards are listed quite a bit above market price and they will happily sell you overpriced cards. For example, I purchased a Blaine's Charizard from them recently that they had listed for $269 over the market price. Thankfully I knew the actual price and asked them to match it. I'd bet they'd have sold me it for the inflated price if I didn't ask. However, on the rare occasion they have something priced below market - they will be sure to make you pay the supposed market price. Funny how they always know when something is below market price, but never mention when they are selling things above it. I didn't mind it in the past as I always asked them to match and paid the TCG price + 10% to support them but I'll pass from now on. The icing on the cake - they promptly updated the price for the card on their website to $79.99 right as I left. What an absolute joke, I hope some poor sap doesn't give them an extra $50 on their $30 card. Long term collectors will remember card shops like this one when the hype goes down - hopefully they let stores like this go with it. I also hope more customers open their eyes to the deceptive pricing and straight up scalping that happens at this store and stop giving them business.”
