“I should have thought before I left something negative. They made everything right for me when I went to return. Thanks for not thinking I was a jerk. I appreciate the service and the easy returns!”

“We brought our kids to this toy store while shopping for birthday gifts, and it ended up being one of the most enjoyable shopping trips we’ve had in a long time. The store carried a great mix of educational toys, games, puzzles, and creative activities that were actually interesting for different age groups. Compared to large retail chains where toy aisles can feel repetitive and chaotic, this store felt much more thoughtfully organized. The employees were friendly with children and offered helpful suggestions without hovering too much. It’s refreshing finding a store that still makes toy shopping feel fun and memorable.”

“Homewood Toy and Hobby, 2830 18th Street South, Birmingham, AL 35209 We have been going to Homewood Toy and Hobby for years, and it continues to be one of those special local stores that is a pleasure to visit. One thing we noticed right away is how convenient and accessible the store is. There is plenty of parking, and they have both a front and back entrance, along with a handicap ramp. That may sound like a small detail to some people, but for someone using a wheelchair or needing easier access, it makes a big difference. The aisles are also wide enough for a wheelchair, which is not always the case in small specialty stores. The service is prompt, friendly, and genuinely kind. The employees are wonderfully nice and helpful without making you feel rushed. My brother enjoyed looking around, taking his time, and selecting what he wanted to buy. That kind of patient, friendly atmosphere means a lot. The store has an amazing assortment of hobby items. They carry model railroading supplies, model airplanes, model cars, military miniatures, radio-controlled vehicles, helicopters, cars, and many other hobby and collectible items. It is the kind of store where you can go in for one thing and still enjoy walking around just to see everything they have. Homewood Toy and Hobby also has the feel of a place that has earned loyal repeat customers over the years. That says something good about both the store and the people who run it. We are thankful for a local hobby store like this and appreciate the kindness, accessibility, and great selection they offer. God bless🙏! Mark and Tim Elders”

“I have been a customer at this shop for almost 30 years. My 3 kids grew up going in with me and picking out their Christmas and birthday faves. My middle daughter still has the doll house I gave her and her sister when they were little girls. She is letting her twins have it. My oldest daughter shops there now with her 7 yo son! My son grew up with his Brio train sets from there. He is 23 now and we visit often and purchase regularly. We had such a very bad experience there last week. It was incredibly disappointing. There was a woman working in the remote area. Probably 40s-long brown hair. She treated my son with such disrespect because he asked her if they price matched. He is a working college student and tries to be frugal. She went off on a tirade about small shops vs. huge corporations like Amazon! All of which one is entitled to believe. The issue was he didn’t need a rudely given lecture. A simple polite no- I’m so sorry-would have been just fine. Anyway, I have definitely noticed the staff isn’t as polite as they used to be and this was an experience that will keep us from returning. It’s sad to see.”
