Game For Good: The Workbench Standard If you’re a serious PC or PlayStation man like I am, you’re tired of "salesmen" who just read the back of a box. You want a technician. That’s why I finally pulled the trigger today at Game For Good on the corner of Smithville and 3rd, right behind Joe’s Pizza. After spending a solid week scouring the internet and hitting four other shops, this was the first place that actually stepped up. I have a very rigid standard when it comes to my gear, and this was the only shop that met it without even batting an eyelid. Don’t let the low-tech, "Mom and Pop" atmosphere of the storefront fool you. You walk into a front sales floor that’s maybe 10x8, but it is packed floor-to-ceiling with everything a gamer actually needs—PlayStations, Xboxes, PCs, controllers, and every specialized cable or splitter you can imagine to get your rig exactly how you want it. But the heart of this place is clearly in the back. That’s where the owner is actually doing the work. This isn't just a "buy and sell" shop. Most of the real estate here is a dedicated workspace where systems are being torn down, perfected, and rebuilt. You can see the evidence of the care Brandon takes—units sitting there with fresh vacuum seals, ready for a new home. As a business owner myself, I recognize that kind of attention to detail immediately. This is a man who knows the internals of the hardware he’s putting on his shelves. But more than just the gear, it was the energy of the place that hit me. When he and I started talking, it wasn't some high-pressure retail pitch; it was an experience. I told him straight up what I was looking for, and he really leaned into it—asking me the right questions, listening to how I actually game, and understanding the specific playstyle I have. When he asked why I was finally moving toward a Nintendo Switch, I explained the headache of trying to make emulators work for certain titles on my PC and how I’d finally hit a wall with the performance—and he completely got it because he’d been through the exact same thing. Because he actually heard what I was saying, he didn’t just hand me a used box. He curated a package specifically for me. He went back and pulled a pristine, all-white Nintendo Switch OLED Model flagship off the shelf because he knew that for a guy used to high-end monitors, anything less than that 7-inch OLED screen would be a compromise. The way he put the whole setup together—the OLED console, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, a wireless Waluigi controller, and a 128GB high-speed expansion card—was exactly what I needed, at exactly the price I needed it to be at. What really impressed me, though, was realizing that while he can cater to a high-end "enthusiast" standard, he’s just as dedicated to the local gamer community. This is a truly family-friendly environment where you aren't "stuck" buying the top-of-the-line if you’re on a tight budget. Brandon has the reliable base models too, and he’s the kind of owner who just wants people in the community to be able to play. If you walk in with a specific budget, he’s going to work with you to make sure you leave with a working system and a game to get you started. He treats every customer with a level of respect and flexibility that is extinct everywhere else. If you want hardware that’s been personally handled by a pro and a shop where the owner’s energy actually matches the quality of the gear, go see Brandon at Game For Good. As I sit here at home looking at this "Panda" white OLED that matches my PS5 perfectly—checked and verified with zero system errors—I couldn't have done a better job myself. He understands the gear, he respects the gamer, and he’s going to make sure you walk away with exactly what you need. Support a local guy who actually does the work.

I came in looking for a couple games, I had called around to all the game stores I knew about and none of them had what I was looking for, but then I tried Game for Good and they had both games I wanted. Not only did they have them, but they were well priced and then the proprietor took some more off the price!! He was very friendly and made a lifelong customer that day. That's only my first visit to the store, I had some personal difficulties that came up the next day or so after and I didn't have the money to take care of them. I went back to the store and even though it's not their policy Brandon let me return the games for a cash refund. He was very understanding and personable and the only regret I have is that I don't have more money to spend with him. I recommend this store to anyone who is reading this, and if you're a parent looking for something for your children, Brandon will take time out of whatever he's doing to learn about what your kids like and will help you find the perfect game for them. I witnessed that with my own eyes. I could go on for several more paragraphs about how great this establishment is. I hope I don't wear out my welcome because this is gonna be my new happy place.

Exciting to see a store so close to me get into magic the gathering. I was able to swing by and pick up 2 full art wastes on a Sunday. Had a great time talking to the owner about different types of trading card games, he was super friendly and helpful.
