“A book store focused on the genres of fantasy, science fiction, classics, history, and archeology. The walls have curios of ancient animals and artifacts, and there are two terrariums with enormous skinks (blue tongued lizards). There are a few comfortable chairs to sit in while reading, and the environment is very quiet, clean, and full of interesting things to delight the eye. The books are a mixture of new and used, and I was very pleased to notice three things about how they treat their books here: 1 they only carry books in excellent condition. Every single book I picked up didn’t have a single instance of highlighting or underlining. No beat up copies here. 2 they may not cover every genre, but for the genres they do cover, they go much deeper than other curated bookstores. for instance take Mark Twain. Instead of just carrying the obligatory Huckleberry Finn and Tom Sawyer, they also have several other books written by him. The same goes for the authors of science fiction. I found some very interesting books written by Greg Bear, Neal Stephenson, Kurt Vonnegut, Sinclair, the list goes on. 3 This may seem like a small detail, but I really appreciate that instead of putting price stickers on the books which are oh so difficult to get off without damaging the cover, they instead handle pricing by writing it in light pencil on the first inside page of the book in the upper right corner, very unobtrusive and easy to remove. In summary, this is the perfect book store for buying used books in high quality condition. I bought several excellent condition books for $5-7. Sure, I can buy books for that price online, but it’s always a gamble as to whether they will have marks on the inside, even when the online listings claim “very good” condition. Plus, the experience here was infinitely better.”

“I've witnesses Giant Nerd Books in the early years when Nate was selling some stuff at the legendary Time Bomb on North Monroe, then when GNB had it's own place until the current location and it is nothing but MAGIC! Where can you find so many wonderful books, magazines, fanzines, art, etc. all under 1 roof?! I have had nothing but JOY finding so many wonderful books and magazines, manga and fanzines here . I have been treated very kindly without judgement unlike another certain local bookstore i quit supporting years ago . You will always find something fantastic here and i do NOT brown nose . “Loved everything about this bookstore. It was so fun to browse the shelves. It's organized in such a fun, spirited way that you don't just come in to find a book and leave. Instead, you find yourself wanting to search every shelf for fun finds. The proprietor was incredibly friendly and has decorated the store with many amazing artifacts from around the world. Can't go wrong visiting this shop. We could have spent way more time than we did! It's also in a neat area to stroll around.”
